Mikey is a man...

Well, of course he considers himself a man or at the very least grown up. Of course at 14 he isn't actually grown up or a man yet; young man for sure but full grown man? Well, maybe in size....Anyway, Saturday, Mikey became a man in the eyes of the church. He was confirmed. It was a beautiful ceremony. I looked over at him as he was returning to his seat and the huge smile on his face...Well, many may think it was brought on intense spiritual growth or sense of well being. I know that it was most likely brought on out of relief. Relief because he was very nervous about that day, about saying the wrong thing or messing up in some way. The relief was also brought on because he is finally finished with Sunday School. Sunday school in the catholic church is, well it is boring. Sad but true. It is like regular school complete with homework and tests. So the fact that he has been going to school 5 days a week for the past 9 years and also Sunday School for the past 9 years (he started in kindergarten), well I can certainly understand why he would be relieved it is over. I do think though that he is proud of himself. Proud that he worked hard and has now graduated to a new phase as a Catholic. We are very proud of him. He may not be a man yet, but he is growing into a very fine young man. We love him very much.

Congratulations, Mikey!

So does being a man mean he has to go out and get a job? lol Just kidding, Mikey!

It has been a big week or two for you, Nic. All your little chickens are growing up fast!

ps- Why does Mikey's nametag say Patrick?

Absolutely! He needs to get a job asap! lol

It has been a busy couple of weeks. It is almost over though. Book fair this week, ice cream social and a field trip all ending on Saturday with a baseball game then a quick run to Brooks violin concert. lol Gads! I will be glad when this week is over. Today though I am cleaning up from the party on Saturday and relaxing.

Mikey's nametag says Patrick because Catholics pick a Confirmation name. Usually a Saint that they personally studied. In Mikey' situation, his middle name is Patrick so he picked Saint Patrick.
